Volunteers
are an essential part of the Gateway Team, with over 400 community
members giving their time each year to our organization. Volunteers
provide patient, family, and community support through many different
roles. You can see a volunteer at most every turn while in the Medical
Center. Likewise, Volunteer Chaplains are available 24-hours a day,
Hospice Volunteers assist terminally ill patients and their families,
and Mended Hearts Volunteers comfort patients facing or recovering
from cardiac treatment. In 2006, the dedication of all our volunteers
resulted in over 31,000 donated hours.
In
addition to the many hours the volunteers donate, the Volunteer
Auxiliary gives thousands of dollars each year to community health
care and youth enrichment projects. The funds donated by the Auxiliary
are raised through various fund raisers and profits from the Auxiliary
owned Wishing Well Gift Shop, located inside Gateway Medical Center.
